DID YOU KNOW?

The Texas Education Agency evaluates public schools and districts under state accountability requirements. In this section, you will find information about a district’s accreditation status, financial accountability and state accountability ratings and standards.

TEA accredits public schools in Texas at the district level for grades K-12. The Accreditation Status, Standards, and Sanctions section of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) states how accreditation statuses will be determined and assigned to school districts. Those statuses are defined as Accredited, Accredited-Warned, Accredited-Probation, and Not Accredited-Revoked. The TAC rules also establish accreditation standards and sanctions, including definitions, purpose and oversight appointments.

The state's school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), ensures that Texas public schools and charters are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve those practices.

The Texas Legislature in 1993 enacted statutes that mandated the creation of the Texas public school accountability system to rate school districts and evaluate campuses. Our state accountability page has information available about our statewide accountability rating system, the Texas Academic Performance Reports, school report cards, and the 2012-2013 Texas Performance Reporting System.

MISD Legacy 2017 building program

legacy

As a result of the $109,200,000 bond issue approved by Marshall ISD voters in May 2015, David Crockett Elementary is the site of a new elementary school scheduled to open in the fall of 2017.

As part of the MISD "Legacy 2017" building program, construction is now underway for the new K-5, approximately 83,000-square foot facility which will have a capacity to serve 750 students. Specifically at Crockett, the northernmost wing of the current school building will be demolished in the summer of 2016 and classroom space in that wing will be replaced by temporary, portable buildings on the south side of the campus for the 2016-2017 school year.

Groundbreaking for the new elementary school was held on May 20, 2016. Substantial completion of the facility is expected by the end of the 2016-2017 school year, with the school targeted for opening in time for the first day of school for the 2017 school year.

Huckabee, Inc., serves as the architect for the Legacy 2017 building program. Based out of Fort Worth, Texas, focuses all of its resources on K-12 public schools. The firm’s footprint in East Texas is a large one, having completed over $330 million in school construction projects within a 50-mile radius of Marshall including projects in Longview ISD, Kilgore ISD, Sabine ISD and Gladewater ISD over the last five years.

GENERAL CONTRACTOR

General Contractor for the Crockett school project is Sedalco Construction Services of Fort Worth, Texas. Sedalco has been in business for over 30 years and has completed building projects in several different areas including commercial, retail, healthcare and educational buildings, among others. Sedalco was the general contractor for projects in Sabine ISD, Everman ISD, Waxahachie ISD, Goose Creek ISD, and several others.

PROJECT MANAGER

The company’s most recent experience with bond program management includes projects in Brazosport ISD, Brenham ISD, Goose Creek Consolidated ISD, Port Neches-Groves ISD and Rockdale ISD.
